live.pirillo.com – When you resize a small image to make it larger, it tends to run the color together, and makes the edges jaggy or blurry. By turning a photo into Vector art, you get rid of those little imperfections.

Heh. “Where the dog sits in his seats.”
This, I suspect, is only handy for a quick logo or image with simple lines and shading. When you get into higher detail, I don’t know how useful it gets. Even with one of the example transformed pictures there’s some wonkiness in the lines. It’s still a handy program though.

I just tried this and I got to say it’s freeking amazing. I’m used to usig Corel Trace and most recently the live trace feature in Illustrator. But this just completly blows them out of the water. Great fidelity without having to do a ton of tweaking. Must have.

This is nice and all but vectorizing a photo will result in MASSIVE loss of quality, so it’s not very usefull for that. Great for logos though.

Why don’t you show a photo instead of a simple cartoon character?
March 9th, 2009 at 1:33 AM
Because it won’t work!!! It only works on simple stuff.
April 5th, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Photos are a lot more complex unless it has simple areas of high and low contrast.
